Letter from the Grand Knight for the Website
Whether this is the first time or one of many visits to this web-site, the Knights of Columbus Annunciation Council 3826, we welcome you. If you require more information about the Knights of Columbus, looking to join our organization or just wish to volunteer some of your time you have come to the right place. I will try to inform you as to what the Knights of Columbus and our council are all about and what we do.
The Knights of Columbus are Catholic men who are devoted to God, Country and Family. We follow four basic principles. The first is Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Who are these men called Knights?
They are fathers, brothers, uncles, friends, and the man next door. They are men who may already be volunteers in your town, the fireman, policeman, emergency response team and the people from your church. They are Catholic gentlemen, who are concerned with the well being of their family, friends and neighbors. They volunteer their time for charity and give it freely.
Some Activities of the Knights
Every Knights of Columbus Council is a little different when it comes to planned activities. But most all of them work all year long delivering program activities that are fun and rewarding while they raise money for charity. The activities might include a model train show, a Doo-wop concert, cook out, annual picnic, pancake breakfast, and dinner dance. Many of our ladies also take part in our events bringing the families together. All of the activities are fun and all for charity.
The Ladies of our Council
Our ladies are an important part of our extended Knights program. They are the wives, daughters, girlfriends and neighbors who help bring our programs full circle. We are very grateful for their input and special touches they bring to our events.
Our Columbian Squires
We have a Squires program for boys ages 10 to 18 who are our young Knights. They have their own activities and leadership program. They are also an important part of our Knights of Columbus program and eligible for full Knight Membership once the reach their eighteenth birthday.
Who Can Become A Knight?
“You can become a Knight” Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all practical Catholic men 18 years of age and older. A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application for membership is available from any member of the Knights of Columbus or simply contacting us by phone, mail or web-site. Every knight is willing to propose eligible Catholic men for consideration as members. Membership in the Knights of Columbus provides opportunity for association with congenial companions who are, first practical Catholic gentlemen. It offers the opportunity for fellowship with those who are of the same belief and moral character, who believe in God, Country. They also believe in the Right to Life, helping families and the needy and will stand in defense of those beliefs.
Our programs are designed to appeal to our members’ interest. Many constructive activities of the Knights fraternity are able to serve their Church, their country and fellowman. Through membership they will develop a sense of family and will be able to assist and lead the way for future generations to come.
The Knights of Columbus has a proud heritage. We welcome you and your family to become part of this proud heritage and become a Knight. Contact us today.
“To Serve and not be served”
